Nic (Annette Bening ) and Jules (Julianne Moore ) is a serene middle-aged lesbian couple with two teenage children, Joni ( Mia Wasikowska ) e Laser ( Josh Hutcherson ), nati attraverso l’inseminazione artificiale. Ma l’ingresso di Paul all’interno del nucleo familiare provocherà conseguenze imprevedibili… Una strepitosa dramedy, in perfetto equilibrio tra serio e faceto, interpretata da due attrici che dovrebbero già avere nella loro bacheca personale almeno una dozzina di Oscar , affiancate da almeno tre comprimari perfetti: cosa chiedere di più ad un film?
